TARASSO, Oct 26: Itanagar Diocesan Empowerment Association (IDEA) and Caritas India, an NGO, in collaboration with District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (DVBDCP), Papum Pare has altogether trained 14 accredited social health activists (ASHAs) on malaria prevention & control at PHC Tarasso on Oct 24 & 25.
The purpose of the training was to capacitate ASHAs for early diagnosis and prompt treatment of all malaria cases and to reduce morbidity and mortality as ASHAs have a tremendous role in sensitizing the community for adopting effective preventive measures, the effective use of bed nets and indoor residual spray (IRS).
The chief resource persons of the training were Techi Pekhi Tara, consultant of DVBDCP, Yupia and Millo Alla, Lab technician, PHC Tarasso.
Dr A Kena, medical officer in-charge of PHC Tarasso has provided all help to organize ASHA training and had motivated ASHAs to work voluntarily to control malaria.
