PASIGHAT, Oct 26: The oldest town of the State woke up to yet another shocking incident of the reported mysterious death of a BSc 4th year student from College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat early this morning.
The lying body of Lalmuankima Chiawngthu, originally from Mizoram studying in 4th year of CHF, Pasighat was reported to police by some resident of PI Line near Komlighat here at around 12.30 am. But due to darkness police couldn’t proceed till this morning. SI Nani Nama, IO of the case sent messages around the towhship to help identify the body, but later during the time of post mortem at General Hospital Pasighat, a case of missing report from the CHF, Pasighat was received. Subsequently, the body was identified as that of the aforesaid student, informed SI. Nani Nama.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Pasighat PS under UD case no11/2014 U/S 174 CRPC and investigation has been launched. As per initial police report, there was injury marks on mouth and bleeding was observed from nose. The head portion of the body was found near bank of Siang river, added the police.
A bicycle and a cell phone of the deceased have been recovered from the spot based on which police will proceed to its investigation. The post mortem report is awaited while sample has also been sent to Kahilipara, Guwahati for forensic examination.
