BJP welcomes Laeta Umbrey into its fold

ITANAGAR, Sep 27: While launching the ‘Jan Sampark Abhiyan’ at Roing on the occasion of 98th birth anniversary of BJP ideologue Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, State BJP president Tai Tagak has approved the formal induction of former PPA legislator Laeta Umbrey yesterday at Forest Park Cultural Hall, Roing.
Former MP Tapir Gao, general secretary Dominic Tadar, State Mahila Morcha president Padmeswari Jamoh, vice president Techi Necha and a host of senior BJP leaders from both district and State were present on the occasion.
“My joining BJP is not out of compulsion or out of personal interest but it’s with conviction,” said Umbrey. He added, “It is our conviction that we can free Arunachal from Congress misrule and corruption that has deeply entrenched the minds and hearts of the people.”
“In Arunachal, there is no scope for regional party and also there’s no time to experiment,” the former MLA said adding “Whether one may like it or not, Narendra Modi is today one of the world’s most popular leaders, and it is time we all walk in his step.”
Having lost the Roing assembly seat to Congress candidate Mutchu Mithi in the April polls, Umbrey said victory and defeat are two faces of the same coin and the defeat has made him stronger. “The more you try to crush, the stronger we will emerge,” he said expressing his determination to keep fighting.
Speaking on the occasion, Tagak spelled out that his party stands for ‘Nation first, Party next and self last’ policy. Terming his party as a ‘party with a difference’ where a ‘Chaiwala’ can become Prime Minister unlike INC which he claimed is a Party of the elites subservient to the wishes of Nehru-Gandhi family.
Criticizing the Congress for exploiting the name of ‘Father of the nation’ in order to extract vote and rule the country, he asserted that it was time to ‘uproot the Aaya Ram Gaya Ram politics’ from the State.
Calling for corruption free govt, he alleged that the Congress party was central to the corrupt system and urged the party workers to work for ‘Congress mukt Arunachal nirman’ by eradicating it from the political scenario of the State. For this, he insisted the party workers to get in touch with the people at grassroots through the ‘Jan Sampark Abhiyan’ at the booth level with the benefits of BJP led Central govt’s policies and programmes like the PMJDY.
“It is high time we need right leader with right attitude and Umbrey perfectly fits into it. For a leader like Umbrey, BJP is the right party. With one step of his, the party is ready to push him two steps ahead,” Gao said.
The ‘Abhiyan’ was also carried out by the District unit BJP, West Kameng.
