Bangladesh envoy pays courtesy call on Governor, CM

ITANAGAR, Sep 26: On a day’s visit to the State, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, Tariq Ahmad Karim today paid a courtesy call on Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma and Chief Minister Nabam Tuki separately.
The meeting held between Karim and Tuki held at latter’s Niti Vihar office this afternoon discussed in length on ways and means to strengthen business ties between Bangladesh and Arunachal Pradesh.
During the meeting, the CM revealed the potential of the State in spheres of hydropower development, tourism, agriculture & allied sectors and hoped that the business ties between Arunachal Pradesh and Bangladesh can be substantially improved.
“It is the great Brahmaputra that binds us and makes us attached to each other,” reciprocated the Bangladesh High Commissioner while admitting to the vast potential of the hilly State.
He suggested that the state government should come up with viable projects to unlock the landlocked geographical terrains and pave way for foreign investments for economic growth.
While categorizing tourism and hydropower as the key sectors for the growth of economy in Arunachal Pradesh, the visiting envoy pitched for working hand in hand to encourage these sectors.
The meeting was also attended by UD and Tourism Minister Pema Khandu, Principal Secretary (Home) Dharmendra Sharma and Commissioner to CM Thajom Taloh.
