ITANAGAR, Sep 26: PWD Minister Gojen Gadi received assurance from Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju for release of central share for 17 NLCPR projects against which the utilization certificates (UCs) were already submitted by the state govt.
The assurance came when Gadi called on the Union Minister at Ziro on Wednesday and submitted the detailed project reports (DPRs) prepared by PWD (Highway) western and eastern zones’ chief engineers and pleaded for early release of central share amounting to over Rs 89.9 crore for 2014-15.
After understanding the gravity of the problem, Rijiju assured that on his return to New Delhi he would hold a meeting with the officers concerned to ensure release of funds for resumption of works, Gadi told.
Committed to state’s overall development, the PWD Minister along with Nari-Koyu legislator Kento Rina, in a joint memorandum addressed to Union Minister of State for DoNER (Independent), submitted a copy to Rijiju and NEC secretary with a request for improving the road connectivity by taking up the 35-km Koyu to Ego road, which has been pending for the last two decades.
This road, part of Pasighat-Ledum-Kouy-Ego road, would link East and West Siang districts and provide connectivity to Rotte, Saku, Tabi Ripo, Loglu, Zirdo, Old Dari, New Dari, Darin (CO HQ) and Ego villages inhabited by over 3,500 denizens. It would serve as a harbinger of socio-economic development and bring multifaceted development if the road is built on priority.
The road estimate amounting to Rs 69.18 crore was submitted to Planning Secretary in December 2009 and included in the working group report under 12th Five Year Plan of the NEC. However, the project estimate has been revised to Rs 96 crore.
Rijiju assured to take up the project with the authority concerned, Gadi added.
