DA hosts public hearings on ‘Greenfield Airport’ project
ITANAGAR, Sep 18: A public hearing on the proposed Greenfield Airport project was held on September 15 and 17 at Yupia and Kokila respectively.
This was organized by Papum Pare district administration.
In the public hearing at Yupia conducted for the land affected tribal citizens, around 200 claims and objections came up for scrutiny which was disposed off accordingly after proper clarification.
On 17th, Papum Pare deputy commissioner Tai Kaye, LRSO Techi Hitler, ZPM Tana Puna and a large number of affected Chakma families attended the hearing.
Chakma land affected people while welcoming the project, appealed the state govt to treat their situation on humanitarian ground. They raised some concerns which was duly addressed by Papum Pare DC and LRSO.
DC Tai Kaye while lauding the affected Chakma families for extending cooperation to the project assured that whatever grievances they have placed will be forwarded to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for consideration.
Orientation training for tourism service providers held
TAWANG, Sep 18: A day-long orientation training programme on capacity building & skill development for tourism service providers – arranged under the BADP scheme – was conducted here on Sept 15 by the District Tourism Office.
Pointing out that promotion of the Home stay concept as an added feature to the already thriving tourism industry in the district, Deputy Commissioner Abishek Dev said that provisions for loans under PMEGP have been made available for Home stay and Tourist Information Center projects too for the unemployed youths of the district.
Though Tawang has created a niche for itself in the tourism sector in the State, a lot remains (to be done), he opined. The potentials bestowed by Mother Nature need to be exploited but without disturbing the natural ambience, he said.
Stressing on the need for safety, security, quality service, authenticity and fair dealings with the tourists, the DC said that tourism of a place mainly depends and thrives on the service providers. Hence, the services provided speak volumes and directly relates to the flow of tourists. Therefore, every possible effort should be made not only by the stakeholders but also by all the people of the district, he added.
In the day-long orientation training programme, the service providers were acquainted on eco-tourism, Home stay concept, safety & security of tourists and service to be provided by the taxi operators, first aid, highlights on Tawang Monastery and tourist interest places of the district by the resource persons including DFO Pradeep Wahule, Kago Kampo of the famed ABASA Home stay Ziro, OC (SB) Kesang Norbu, Dr Tsering Penjor, Gelong Thupten Shastri of Tawang Monastery and TIO Tenzin Tsamche through power-point presentation.
Earlier, DTO Tsering Dekey welcoming the service providers to the orientation training programme impressed on the need for healthy competitiveness and acquainting oneself with the details and knowledge of the district in order to provide better and efficient service to the people and tourists visiting the district. Sincere effort should be made to uphold the oft repeated saying – Atithi Devo Bhavah, she concluded. (DIPRO)

VKAJ conducts medical camps in Changlang
Itanagar, Sep 18: The mobile medical team of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti conducted a series of medical camps at several places in Changlang district recently. On 6th Sept, a camp was organized for the students of Shree Rang Frah Vidya Niketan, Changlang. All the hostellers were examined by doctor and prescribed medicines accordingly. From 7th to 11th Sept, camps were organized at Yanman, Upper Bubang, Chingsa, Sohelaktong and Bubang villages of Khimiyong and Kantang circles. In all, 508 patients were treated and distributed free medicines.
The second phases of the medical camps were conducted at Kharsang and Miao circles of the district. On 14th Sept, camp was organized at Chingsa village, where 56 patients were examined and given medicines. The next day, similar camp was conducted at New Khimiyong village, benefiting 65 patients. Most of the patients were suffering from viral fever, water borne diseases and various skin ailments.
Along with camps, the team also visited the primary schools of Chingsa and Upper Bubang. 31 students were given medicines for worm infections. Multi vitamins were provided to some malnourished students. The doctor advised the students to follow healthy lifestyle and maintain personal hygiene.

DC-chaired meeting on skill dev &
employment generation prog held
Anini, Sep 18: A meeting on skilled development & employment generation programme during 12th Plan under district flagship programme was held under the chairmanship of Tamune Miso, Deputy Commissioner, Dibang Valley district in his chamber here today.
All the Zilla Parishad Members, Anchal Samity Chairpersons, all technical head of departments, representatives from Govt Hr Sec School Anini and JNV Anini attended the meeting and had elaborate discussion regarding the subject.
GHSS Anini and JNV Anini were selected for training on ICT, engaging students from classes IX to class XI. It was proposed to cover at least 290 students under this training. Staffs and manpower from NIC, CIC, JNV and GHSS Anini will be imparting the necessary training.
Further, 2nd phase of training on various areas and trades was proposed under which 100 unemployed youths were recommended to be engaged. Out of 100, 70 applicants are to be trained within the State and remaining 30 outside the State in various ITI activities.
The Textile & Handicraft Dept, Anini will also provide training on various textile and handicraft activities with locally available resources. (DIPRO)

Training on IWMP implementation held
ROING, Sep 18: The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Lower Dibang Valley district conducted a district level orientation & sensitization training on implementation of Integrated Watershed Management Programmes (IWMP) at Anchal Samiti Hall here today for Watershed cum Data Centre, Watershed Development team, Watershed Committee, SHGs and User Groups.
Shiv Kumar, Deputy Commissioner cum Chief Executive Officer, DRDA Roing, in his speech, asked the members present and the implementing agencies to execute IWMP for the betterment of the entire area and to work for common interest of the people.
He also asked the implementing agencies to ensure quality of work under the scheme and to bring desirable results in the area.
Project Director DRDA, Tage Tado informed that the main objective of the programme is to sensitize the people on IWMP implementation, to explain the functions of different institutions or functionaries like WCDC, PIA, WDT, WC, SHG & User Groups and also about the different types of works that can be taken up under IWMP in agriculture, livestock, fishery sectors and basic requirements like approach road, repairing of school, etc on need basis.
Resource person, Dr Rakesh Srivastava, Dy Director, SIRD, Itanagar threw light on various aspects of IWMP implementation.
Highlighting the new guiding principle of IWMP, he informed that the Watershed works should promote livelihoods in a sustainable manner with increased returns to ensure “quality of life”.
It further aims to strengthen the asset base of the poor and hence asset base of the poor are given top priority in the project to develop equity. The project is also gender sensitive and therefore postulate a women centric approach by increasing access to livelihood, avenues such as skill development, credits, livelihood based information with increased representation of women.
He informed that in the revised guidelines, the role of Gram Sabha has become central to promote decentralization and the Gram Sabha has been projected as the nodal body for mandating involvement of community based organizations and hence, all project activities need due endorsement of Gram Sabha.
The new revised guidelines also emphasize on capacity building, technology inputs, monitoring, evaluation & learning and also on organizational restructuring, he added.

NHPC conferred Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Award
Faridabad, Sep 18: NHPC has been awarded second prize by Ministry of Home Affairs, govt of India for the year 2012-13 under Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Award programme for commendable work in implementation of Rajbhasha amongst public sector undertakings located in region ‘A’. The award was received from President Pranab Mukherjee by R S Mina, Director (Personnel), NHPC during the award ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi on Sept 14. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was also present on the occasion.
‘Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Shield’ is the highest award of govt of India given in the field of implementation of Rajbhasha. NHPC has won this prestigious award for the fifth time in a row, after having earlier received the first prize in the field of implementation of Rajbhasha amongst the PSUs for the years 2008-09, 2009-10, 2011-12 and second prize for the year 2010-11.
Along with the development and generation of hydropower, NHPC has also made remarkable progress in the field of Rajbhasha. Keeping in view the commendable achievements of NHPC in implementation of Rajbhasha, it has been conferred with several Rajbhasa awards at national level.

Efforts on to implement RGKA
ZIRO, Sep 18: The meeting of District Level Executive Committee of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) for submission of plan proposal under for the year 2014-15 in respect of three CD blocks of Lower Subansiri district was held at DC’s mini conference hall here on Sept 16 last under the chairmanship of Krishna Mohan Uppu, Deputy Commissioner, Ziro.
The 1st was a proposal to construct a sports complex under RGKA in each block both for outdoor and indoor sports disciplines with a land measuring about 6-7 acres for the same. The chairman invited all the views on feasibility from all the present members, expert and PRI members of three blocks headquarters.
The chairman said that as per the scheme no duplicacy is allowed if grounds/sports facilities have already been allotted by the state or central govt at a particular location. As far as possible locations should be at the block headquarters, however, if suitable area is not available or in case of duplicacy, circle headquarters and other locations can be chosen. All facilities to be developed must be school based as it would allow sustainability of the asset created. The COs/ADCs alongwith surveyors shall provide detailed land records, map, LPC for the school proposed.
The chairman expressed hope that with the creation of block level sports facilities, the children of the district would be allowed to channelize their energy in a positive direction and also result in grooming budding talents. (DIPRO)

Seminar on ‘usage of Agrotextiles suitable for AP’ held
Itanagar, Sep 18: A one-day seminar on “Usage of Agrotextiles suitable for Arunachal Pradesh and its advantages” was held at Bomdila on Sept 16 under the Ministry of Textiles scheme for “Promoting Usage of Agrotextiles in North East Region”.
NE region has tremendous potential for agricultural, horticultural, floricultural produces if suitable Agrotextiles like shade-nets, ground cover, crop cover etc could be augmented. Union Ministry of Textiles (MoT) has recognized this potential and to tap it, has taken an initiative to promote usage of Agrotextiles in the region through its ambitious scheme “Promoting Usages of Agrotextiles in North Eastern Region”.
The Synthetic & Art Silk Mills’ Research Association (SASMIRA) is Centre of Excellence (COE) for Agrotextiles under MoT, GoI, has been entrusted with the responsibility to accomplish the scheme goals with the help of State govt and other horticulture/agriculture associated agencies.
Creating awareness about the Agrotextiles is one of the foremost goals of the scheme which is to be achieved through seminar and workshop programs. In the same line, the one-day seminar was organized at West Kameng DC’s conference hall in association with the State Horticulture Farm, Shergaon. Main goal of the program was to educate people about Agrotextile usage and its benefits and various financial and technical supports to be provided under the scheme.
The seminar was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner A K Singh. In his inaugural address, the DC emphasized the need of modern techniques in horticulture and agriculture production. The welcome address was given by Nawang Lobsang, horticulturist, State Horticulture Farm, Shergaon and concept address by R P Singh, Scientist-C, COE-Agrotech, SASMIRA, Mumbai. The programme was attended by DHO, DAO, ADTH, horticulturist, scientists from KVK, Dirang along with the team from COE-Agrotech, SASMIRA, Mumbai.
During the technical session, application of Agrotextiles was deliberated upon like shade nets, ground covers, bird protection nets, frost protection cover/crop cover, anti-hail net, pond lining, etc which are of immense benefit to farmers. The use of these Agrotextile products can enhance the horticulture/agriculture crop production by 3 to 4 times in yield and reduces the crop cycle as well as facilitates off season cultivation.

Arunachalee girl bags NE Golden Personality Award
Khonsa, Sep 18: A young Nocte girl from backward Tirap district and a graduate from National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) with 81.1% in her BArch in 2013, Joancha Arang, native of Kaimai village brought laurels to the State by winning the prestigious North Eastern Golden Personality Award and a gold medal in 2014. She was also awarded the Indian Award for Excellence in Architecture with a gold medal which was presented by Dr G V G Krishnamurthy, former Election Commissioner, in a New Delhi function.
It is worth-mentioning here that the award is presented to only one outstanding individual from all over India for his/her outstanding and extra-ordinary achievement and contribution in his/her chosen field of work.
The award instituted by Friendship Forum of India, a New Delhi based voluntary organization focused on forging greater unity, integrity and collaboration among Indians across the globe. The awards are a testimony towards the proactive attitude, innovation, contribution and global perspective reflected by the recipients in their respective field.
At a time when Tirap district is always in the news for all the wrong reasons, Joancha’s stupendous achievements come like a breath of fresh air. She is a shining example for the girls of the district and the other Nocte girls should invariably try to emulate her example by working hard.
Truly, Joancha Arang has made all the people of Tirap proud by her achievements, stated Wangling Lowangdong, the chief of Borduria and MLA, Borduria-Bogapani.

Qualifying matches for 2nd RAMFT underway
Aalo, Sep 18: The qualifying matches of second Rebi Ado Memorial Football Tournament organized by District Sports Association, Aalo started on Sept 16 last. Altogether 25 teams are in the fray for the coveted trophy out of which 12 teams will be selected along with four semifinalists of the previous year to make it to the list of 16 teams for the main event slated for Oct 16 next. Doi Ado, sponsor and Gego Doji, secretary DSA appealed all participating teams to play the game of football maintaining sportsmanship spirit.
