Itanagar, Mar 19: Putting at rest all speculations, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced its second list of 17 candidates, including that of much-talked-about Itanagar constituency, for the April 9 election to the 60-member State Assembly in Arunachal Pradesh.
The list of candidates was cleared by BJP Central Election Committee, chaired by party’s national president Rajnath Singh.
Former Congress minister Atum Welly has been named as candidate for Pakke-Kessang constituency on expected lines, while youth leader Tame Phassang has been found to be “the most suitable” candidate for the prestigious Itanagar seat, thus ending all speculations.
As per the announcement, Nabam Tade will contest from Sagalee – the state Chief Minister Nabam Tuki’s constituency, while former ministers Roding Pertin, T L Rajkumar and Thajam Aboh have been named as party candidates for Dambuk, Khonsa East and Khonsa West, respectively.
Other candidates as per the list are: Lhakpa Tsering (Dirang), Dorjee Khandu Thungon (Kalaktang), Tai Chiji (Nyapin), Lompak Paksok (Dumporijo), Dr Nyada Mara (Likabali), Tumke Bagra (Along West), Yumto Jini (Along East), Kento Rina (Nari-Koyu), Malo Linggi (Roing), Chow Arina Manpoong (Namsai) and Sira Ong Singpho (Bordumsa).
