TEZU, Mar 19: The Director General, Election Commission of India (ECI), Ashish Srivastava accompanied by State’s Inspector General of Police Satyendra Garg today visited Tezu, the headquarters of Lohit district, to take stock of election related preparedness in the district.
During the visit, the ECI Director General had a meeting with the Lohit Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer and Superintendent of Police at DC’s chamber to review and assess the electioneering process in the district in general and Tezu in particular. First hand information on law and order situation, conduct of MCC etc were evaluated by the Director General and the IGP.
Another meeting of Director General and IGP with representatives of political parties was held at DC’s conference hall. Brief discussion on the objective of ECI on ethical voting and peaceful conduct of election without inducement was communicated to the representatives of Congress and BJP present.
Meanwhile, 122 bottles of IMFL were seized in a surprise raid conducted by excise officer with liquor monitoring team. The raid was conducted in 32 wine shops and hotels in and around Tezu township today. In addition to this, Flying Squads also seized two daos at Tezu. (DIPRO)
