Seppa, Oct 2: As the district headquarters township was reeling under darkness for the past couple of months following reported breakdown of the Pacha hydel station, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) and East Kameng Middle Zone Students’ Union (EKMZSU) appealed to the department concerned for immediate restoration of electricity in the district HQs. They served a 10 days’ deadline to the department to meet the demand failing which they threatened to launch a democratic movement.
An AAPSU team, headed by its info & publicity secretary Lota Singhi, also the chairman of ensuing AEKSU conference, along with EKMZSU president Rocky Blange today met the administration of hydro power department at Seppa.
The administration including engineers of electro mechanical and civil power shared all the relevant information on “crisis” of the department which compelled them to stop supplying of electricity for last two months. EM in-charge D B Shukla expressed deep regret to the team for such crisis and sought cooperation from publics in the trying time.
During the meeting, it was learnt that the department has engaged experts from PM Infra Pvt Ltd, a Bhubaneswar based company for immediate restoration of defective machinery parts of the project, and the expert team is working day and night for speedy restoration. The hydro power project has stopped working after failure of solenoid which caused a multiple failure in mechanism including misalignment, hydro exchanger and butterfly valve hydraulic servomotor of the station. The officials also disclosed shortage of fund in the maintenance works.
Pacha Hydel of Seppa generates more than two crores in a year but it is unfortunate that the project is remained shut down just because of little maintenance work, alleged AAPSU. It appealed to the district administration for close monitoring of the ongoing maintenance works of Pacha hydel for larger benefits of the people of East Kameng district.
