ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Former MP Kiren Rijiju has drawn the attention of the Centre on the reported inclusion of a number of villages under Likabali sub-division of West Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh under the proposed jurisdiction of Mishing Autonomous Council (MAC) in Assam saying “it has grossly undermined the Federal structure of India and blatantly violated the territorial boundary of Arunachal Pradesh”, urging the Govt of India’s immediate intervention in this go for the required ‘modification’ to bring the “status-quo” back on track.
In a complaint to Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Rijiju expressed surprise saying “Even when the Boundary Commission set up by the group of India itself is yet to prepare a final report, how does the transgression into another State can take place.”
Taking a strong stand in this connection, he affirmed, “The inclusion of the Arunachal Pradesh villages namely Dipa , Liche, Kuntor, Jipu. SiIli, Germe. Rate, Torajan, Siloni, Durpai, Kangku and Borajan which are under Likabali Sub-Division of West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh raises a serious question mark on the act and motive of the Govt of Assam and Govt of India against the people of Arunachal Pradesh.”
He went on to add, “The well settled villages of Arunachal Pradesh are unnecessarily brought under the proposed Mishing Autonomous Districts jurisdiction which is a deliberate act of aggression against the state of Arunachal Pradesh.”
Seeking GoI’s urgent mediation in ‘MAC’ issue, Rijiju further pleaded, “I appeal to the Govt of India to immediately intervene into the issue for necessary rectification of the anomalies considering the gravity of the situation for the urgent restoration of status-quo.”
