ITANAGAR, Sep 30: The second handicraft programme organized by Lumdung Baptist Church under the banner of Papu Pastoral Range with the theme “A gift opens the way for the giver” was held at Lumdung in East Kameng district on Sept 29.
The function was attended by Mama Natung, a social worker of the area, as chief guest. In his brief speech he advised the believers of Christ to follow His principles and also advised not to cheat, harm others and be confident on his self service for peace, prosperity and overall development of the area in particular and the district and state as a whole.
He appreciated the Papu Pastor Range for organizing a talent hunt of local ornaments and handicraft items of the area and called for recognition of their talent by the department concerned for their further promotion.
The program was also attended by Suraj Tayam, finance secretary, AAPSU as a guest of honour. While hailing the team of organizers for the success of the handicraft exhibition, Tayam said the hard work of the team will be recognized in later parts through their dedication for promoting handicraft in the area.
While talking about the ill-impact of early marriage, the student leader appealed to the parents of students not to force their wards to practice child marriage or early marriage. He also lauded the East Kameng district administration’s strong move on ‘no pay no work’ policy against the teachers’ absenteeism for the larger benefit of the students community.
Special invitee Yalam Cheri, ZPM of Papu Valley West, a token of appreciation, announced fund provisions from her end for construction of CC stairs from main road to church. She also advised the believers not to cheat others in the name of religions.
The programme was attended among others by Rakesh Pada, federal member, AAPSU, Riba Natung, ASM, Lumdung, Shew Natung, ex-ASM, Seba village, Er Kapil Natung of PWD, Seppa, Mepa Natung, general secretary of Natung Welfare Society.
