AALO, Sep 30: As many as 394 Himveers (general duty) of ITBP representing various states of the country turned out for the colourful passing out parade and attestation ceremony after undergoing 44 weeks of rigorous basic training held at ATC here today.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest, R K Saini, Inspector General North East Frontier ITBP, said that rigorous trainings are imparted to the soldier to meet the challenging nature of job and establish a identity of its own to be a force to be reckoned with in different locations of the country.
Terming the passing out parade to be just a beginning for the soldiers to take up multiple nature of works, he advised the newly recruited soldiers to remain fit physically and mentally not only to excel in guarding the frontier, induction in Naxal affected areas, rescue and relief operations during natural calamities but also to earn promotions in life by dint of their merits.
He also appreciated the smart turn up by the newly recruited members of the force and urged them to keep up the same spirit while appreciating the efforts put in by the trainers.
On the occasion, the chief guest also gave away awards of Overall Best Trainee to Daljeet Singh, Best in Endurance to Pradeep Kumar, Best in Weapon Handling to Afzal Beig, Best in Firing to Ramkesh Meena and Best in Drill to Ranti Bhagat.
Earlier, Ajay Pal Singh, DIG, SHQ (ITA) highlighted the boarder guarding and operational achievements of the force and expressed his happiness on joining of 394 fit and enthusiastic young soldiers from 366th, 367th and 368th CT/GD to the main stream of ITBP.
Ramesh Kumar, Commandant 20th ITBP Aalo also spoke on the occasion.
The programme was attended by among others M K Sahoo, West Siang DC, Brigadier Ajay Verma Commanding Officer, 5 Mountain Brigade, Col G.S. Chundawat, Commandant 19 Grenadier Bogdo, Doi Ado, ex minister and a host of other dignitaries.
The chief guest and other dignitaries also inspected the exhibition stall displayed by the ITBP on art and crafts, mountaineering equipments and weaponry to get insight into the main activities of the ITBP. (DIPRO)
