NEW DELHI, Sep 18: The slow progress of works at the various hydro projects in the state of Arunachal Pradesh has become a thorn in the flesh for the state govt.
Aggravated with the various issues which are impeding work progress, Hari Krishna Paliwal, Chief Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh govt is reviewing the pending matters of 48 hydro projects with each developer on quarterly basis. The Chief Secretary is also planning to review the status of projects by the end of this month again.
With the view of providing some respite to the ministry, Power Ministry is also taking up the pending matters with Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs at appropriate level, the Secretary noted.
In this regard, show-cause notices are issued to the developers wherever the progress has been found to be slow, informed the Secretary. Moreover, the State govt has cancelled the allotment of 9 projects where there is no progress at all.
Of the 48 projects that will be reviewed, DPR is under preparation for 22 hydro projects with total installed capacity of 7,683 MW which include 360 MW Nalo HEP, 1600 MW Kamala HEP, 500 MW Attunli HEP, 2000 MW Subansiri HEP and 600 MW Kamneg-II HEP.
While hydrology has been cleared for these projects, there has been little progress in 26 projects worth 5,910.5 MW. These include 500 MW Emini HEP, 400 MW Mihundom HEP, 420 MW Amulin HEP, 800 MW Niare HEP, 1000 MW Naba HEP and 552 MW Dengsar HEP.
