ASBA gears up to host NE Zone Inter-State Badminton C’ship

ITANAGAR: Sept 13: The Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) is gearing up to organize the 17th North East Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship for both Senior and Junior Boys and Girls, and the North East Zone Open Badminton Championship for both boys and girls under the aegis of Badminton Association of India (BAI) at Itanagar from October 23 to 26 next.
In a preparatory meeting chaired by Er Gaken Ete, honorary secretary, ASBA, the Association discussed at length for smoooth conduct of the mega event and accordingly, charters of duties have been assigned to the members of ASBA.
Around 400 players from across the North Eastern states are expected to participate in the regional championship, which is held annually in accordance with the calendar fixed by the BAI in one of the NE states on rotation basis and for Arunachal Pradesh, this will be the third time to host the championship.
Eleven players have qualified to represent Arunachal Pradesh and are now undergoing intensive training under expert coaches, informed Bamang Tago, hony joint secretary, ASBA. “We are confident that the Arunachal shuttlers will clinch the coveted tournament,” he said.
