MJ Football Final matchPASIGHAT, Aug 16: Bogong Soccer Club won the 4th Matmur Jamoh Memorial Independence Cup Football Trophy defeating Young Takiralung Football Club (YTFC) 4-0 in the final match played at general ground here yesterday.
Ning Rome of BSC team netted the first goal immediately within four minutes of start of the proceedings while Kadum Panggeng added the second after 25 minutes boosting the morale of his team mates. The second half was also easier for the winning side. One of the toughest teams of the tournament YTFC failed to open its account. Minto Peyang and Onyok Pajing of BSC scored two more goals to win the title.
The one-sided game was witnessed, among others, by the Education Minister Bosiram Siram and East Siang DC Nidhi Srivastav as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Besides the winners’ trophy, BSC walked away with a cash award of Rs 50,000 while the runners-up bagged Rs 30,000.
Miding Tasung of BSC was declared as the best player of the tournament and Golong Mengu of the same team received the best goalkeeper’s title. From YTFC team Gumin Panking was the highest scorer who scored seven goals in the tourney and Downtown FC was adjudged the best fair play team. (DIPRO)
