ANYA-CCU calls for capital bandh
ITANAGAR: The All Nyishi Youth Association, Capital Complex Unit (ANYA-CCU) has decided to call a 12-hour bandh on July 11 next in protest against non-fulfillment of its charter of demands.
Its demands included eviction of land encroachers, relocation of Pipe Company located near Barapani (Naharlagun) ME School and shifting of Ganga Mandir to a suitable place.
The ANYA-CCU said with regret that it is yet to get any response from the govt’s end despite submission of a memorandum to the Chief Minister in October last year, in this regard. It also threatened to intensify the agitation by calling more such bandhs of longer duration provided the govt fails to fulfill its demands.
In the meantime, the Arunachal Construction Workers Union and the Kurung Kumey district unit of ANYA, in separate Press releases today conveyed their support to the 12-hour capital bandh call given on July 11 by the ANYA-CCU.
Decks cleared for TAH’s
Khodaso to Hoj stretch
ITANAGAR: Clearing the decks for construction of Trans-Arunachal Highway, NH-229, in the district from Khodaso to Hoj segment, the Papum Pare district administration today handed over the portions of land acquired to the Chief Engineer, PWD, Highway division. The district administration had earlier carried out the process of land acquisition for Khodaso to Hoj segment of the project. The certificate of acquired land for following segment were handed over to the department, Segment 4 (Khodaso-Raik), Segment 5A (Raik-Leporiang), Segment-5B (Leporiang-Kheel) and Segment 6 (Kheel-Hoj).
Officials asked to activate
flood monitoring cells
ITANAGAR: The Secretary of Water Resources Department, G Ete has directed the Chief Engineers of both Eastern and Western Zones to activate the flood monitoring cells at headquarters, district and circle levels in the wake of onset of the monsoon. The Secretary WRD while holding a review meeting with the departmental officials here yesterday further directed them to conduct sensitization workshop/training, especially in flood-prone areas at the earliest. It was also directed to formulate district/circle level monitoring cell and put nodal officers/coordinators in public domain.
7-a-side soccer tourney
ITANAGAR: A football 7-a-side event, namely, Challengers’ Tiger Seven Football Tournament-2013 is commencing at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun tomorrow. Altogether, 24 teams are taking part in the tournament, being organized by ‘Young Club’ under the aegis of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association. The tournament will continue till July 11 next.
No citizen should get “double advantage”: JSM
ITANAGAR, Jun 29: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of Janajati Suraksha Manch held a meeting at the conference hall of Arunachal Vikas Parishad here today to discuss the ‘minority’ issue, arising out of a recent statement made by the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Ninong Ering.
While expressing concern on accruing of ‘minority’ benefits, JSM strongly appealed the State govt and the concerned Union Ministry to take all necessary initiative to ensure that no citizen take “double advantage” by way of the reservation policy and from any schemes of govt.
It also appealed to the GoAP to set up a separate counter to surrender the Scheduled Tribe certificates of those who want to avail the benefits given to minority groups. It appealed the Government to produce the list of minorities as and when required.
Further, the Manch appealed the State govt to re-introduce the column No 8 in the application form of ST certificate so that identification of the applicant could be easily ascertained.
The participating members unanimously endorsed the issue to Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) to take it up to a logical end.
Taba Hare, Dr Tai Nyori, Nabam Atum, Y D Tongchi, Toni Koyu, Chaphung Wangsu, Muntu Mossang, Techi Gubin, Nyamo Doje, Bai Taba and Dr G Baki were prominent among the members who spoke on the occasion.
AAPSU-XI beat former AAPSU leaders XI 2-1 in a friendly match
ITANAGAR, Jun 29: In a bid to encourage local hidden talents in the field of sports in the State and to discourage the drug menace, a friendly match was played between AAPSU-XI and former AAPSU leaders XI in which the former scraped past the latter 2-1.
The AAPSU-XI was skippered by its president Kamta Lapung while the former AAPSU leaders’ XI was skippered by Lok Sabha MP Takam Sanjoy.
The MP scored the lone goal for his side while AAPSU secretary RTI, Tukfi Riang and office secretary Tame Tara netted the goals for the winners.
The match was also witnessed by political secretary to CM, Bamang Tago, NESO general secretary Sinam Prakash Singh and others.
