May 16 declared public holiday
ITANAGAR: In a bid to ensure participation of all in the Panchayati Raj and Municipal elections for May 16 next, the State govt has declared public holiday on the polling day for all govt offices, semi-govt offices, banks, financial, educational and commercial institutions, all working divisions, shops and commercial establishment located in Arunachal Pradesh.
Voting by EDC in Roing, Yingkiong
ITANAGAR: Voting by Election Duty Certificate (EDC) for persons on election duty was cast at Anchal Samiti Hall, Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district today. Altogether, 295 votes were cast which included 135 votes for ZPM, 127 for ASM and 33 votes for GPM against Roing, Meka, Koronu, Iduli and Hunli Anchal Samiti constituencies.
Meanwhile, the voting by EDC also started at Tourist Hall, Yingkiong today. The exercise in Upper Siang district will continue tomorrow, beginning 0800 hours and ending at 1600 hours. The polling team will start leaving the district headquarter on Friday for Tuting, Gelling, Singa-Likor etc. and on Sunday for Mariyang, Geku, Jengging and Katan, the DEO informed. Unlike Assembly and Parliamentary elections, there is no Postal Ballot system in the Panchayat polls, he added. (DIPRO)
Economic Census
AALO: The 6th Economic Census in West Siang district will be conducted from May 25 to June 24 next. In this connection, all the residents of the district have been urged to extend cooperation to the Enumerators and Supervisors detailed on duty by providing necessary information to them in order to complete this national task successfully.
