ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering was today sworn in as Parliamentary Secretary by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
He was given the oath of office and secrecy by the Chief Minister in a simple ceremony here in presence of colleagues including Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries as well as MLAs.
Chief Secretary in-charge Yeshi Tsering was also present on the occasion.
With the swearing in of Tsering, the number of Parliamentary Secretaries in the present govt has gone up to 25.
Expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister, Tsering, a first-time MLA, assured his cooperation to the govt under his leadership on all fronts.
Meanwhile, the West Kameng Indigenous People’s Society while welcoming Phurpa’s elevation has expressed its gratitude to Chief Minister Nabam Tuki andAPCCpresident Mukut Mithi for choosing him for the coveted post.
The Society hoped that Phurpa would work for the welfare of the people of the state with utmost dedication.
Before being elected to the State Assembly, Phurpa had served as West Kameng DCC president in 2007-08. Earlier, he had, to start with, served as Dirang BCC president in 2001-2003. Became the president of District Youth Congress, 2003-05 and elected unopposed as ZPM from Thembang block. He was elected Zilla Parishad chairperson,West Kamengin 2007-08.
