ITANAGAR, May 1: Leading the people of Arunachal Pradesh in paying homage to former Chief Minister, late Dorjee Khandu on the occasion of his first death anniversary, Governor Gen (Retd) J J Singh has extended his solidarity to the family members of the departed leader and remembered his contributions for the development of the State.

“He was a true son of the soil and a patriot. The best way to remember him would be to carry on the developmental works he had initiated in the State,” said the Governor and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

The central executive members of Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) too fondly remembered the former Chief Minister late Dorjee Khandu on his first death anniversary.

Describing late Khandu as a man of commitment, straight-forwardness and generosity and knowledgeable and highly intelligent, CoSAAP recalled that the former CM was very amiable to the govt employees and was always readily available for employees to understand their problems. The CoSAAP appealed to all state govt employees to dedicate themselves in their respective field of duties to fulfill the cherished dream of late Khandu for a prosperous and developed Arunachal.

While sharing the grief moment with the family members of late Khandu and people of the State on the day, the CoSAAP members observed a two minutes’ silence as a mark of respect the departed leader.

The Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) also remembered the former CM, late Dorjee Khandu and his contributions towards the overall development of the State, on his first death anniversary on April 30.

IFCSAP called him as a beholder of indigenous faith and culture and a guiding force for preservation, promotion of rich cultural heritage of people of the State, and said that it will ever cherish the faith reposed by Khandu upon the Society. IFCSAP members especially youth have resolved to fulfill his vision and committed themselves to contribute towards achieving the goal of a developed Arunachal as dreamt by late Khandu.

Joining the chorus of mourners and prayers in remembering the charismatic leader, late Dorjee Khandu on his first death anniversary, the people of Dirang also organized a candle light rally there yesterday and offered prayers for eternal peace of his departed soul.

Attended by public leaders, shopkeepers, govt employees, school children and common public, the rally started from the newly constructed Upper Gonpaand culminated at the Kalachakra Gonpa. During the day-long puja at the local Gonpa, more than 200 Lamas also offered prayers and chanted sacred Buddhist hymns for eternal peace of the departed soul.
