ITANAGAR, Apr 30: Power Minister Tanga Byaling has asked the officials of the department to speed up the villages’ electrification works so that benefits of the rural electrification scheme, RGGVY, can be enjoyed by all the people of the State equally, as early as possible.

He was addressing a review meeting on Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) convened here today to ascertain the progress of RGGVY works during last financial year, 2011-12, and to take stock of the ground realities including problem encountering the schemes execution.

The Minister informed that he had recently met the officials of Ministry of Power and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), the nodal agency for the rural electrification programme, and apprised them about the obstacles faced by the State in early completion of the schemes, adding that the Ministry has assured to provide all necessary assistance in execution of RGGVY works.

While participating in the discussion, Lok Sabha MP Takam Sanjoy advised all officers to highlight the hurdles faced in implementation of RGGVY scheme and assured to take up the matter with the appropriate authority at the Centre.

Parliamentary Secretary for Power (Electrical) Gojen Gadi urged the officers to make a realistic target of village electrification by putting all-out efforts to complete the RGGVY works within the current year.

Among others, Secretary (Power) Tomi Ete, and all the SEs and EEs of the department also attended the meeting.
