ITANAGAR, Apr 9: The better half of State Governor, Anupama Singh called for learning the importance of love, strong values, education and hard work.
Addressing the girl students of Sakshi – Centre for Information, Education & Communication, Jasola Gaon, New Delhi recently, she said with these values, you can control your own destiny.
Exhorting the girls to stand up for what they believe in, Anupama Singh, who is also the president of Muskan Welfare Society, advised them not to be trapped by dogma like living with the results of other people’s thinking. She asked the girls not to let the noise of others’ opinions sink their own inner voice and to have the courage to follow their heart and intuition.
While motivating the students to complete their studies, Singh asked the girls to stay grounded and close to their cultures and to remain always rooted to the culture of love and respect. At the same time we must stand against some evil practices in the society like dowry, she emphasized.
The MWS president also appealed to the parents and guardians to take care of the children stating that the children are our future and they depend entirely on the support and love they receive from us. A former teacher herself, she also dwelt in length on the importance of the teaching community.
Sakshi girls and teachers presented an entertaining and informative performance including group songs on moral values and importance of girls’ education.�
Sakshi president Dr Mridula Tandon spoke on the importance of girl’s education noting that educated mothers were twice as likely to have a healthy child.
Anupama Singh, the chief guest, also gave away prizes to the winners of the Sakshi Girls Education Project. (PRO)
