Nature’s fury hits DV as road
service comes to grinding halt
ANINI, Apr 8: Dibang Valley district, which is already reeling under communication crisis, has received another blow from nature with continuous downpour from last couple of weeks causing erosions at numerous locations on the Anini- Roing road thereby bringing the road service to a grinding halt since April 6 last.
The bridge over river Deopani which was washed away in December last is yet to be functional and now, incessant heavy rain caused torrential erosions at numerous points on the Anini- Roing road thereby bringing the road communication to a standstill since last Friday.
Heavy landsides occurred at many locations namely Endulin Nallah, Mayodia, 17-camp, 83-camp etc according to the SDO, Hunli/ BRO officials. The whole 120 Km stretch between Mayudia and Endulin has been hit by landslides and may aggravate further. The BRO has pressed their man and machineries into service but the sheer volume of debris may require some time before road communication is restored.
DC Abu Tayeng is personally monitoring the situation and in constant touch with the concerned authorities for immediate restoration of road communication. (DIPRO)

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: In a bid to preserve and promote its dialect, the Adi Agom Kebang (AAK), a literary organization of the Adi community has decided to introduce text books in Adi Agom (language) in entire schools of Adi belt from coming academic session.
This was divulged by AAK president Prof Tamo Mibang during a meeting held today.
“Introducing the text in the entire belt would help disseminate information to the younger generation in their own dialect, preserve it from extinction and also give platform to budding writers,” Mibang said.
“We will also disseminate various old songs, lyrics and write up through proper documentation and workshop,” he assured.
Earlier, text books in Adi Agom were distributed to few schools after its notification issued by the state govt for introduction of Adi as third language in 2001.
AAK general secretary Obang Tayeng called upon all to promote the language in the society saying “only 16 percent of children in urban areas are able to speak own language nowadays. To preserve it more effectively, we have to promote it without any discrimination in caste, creed, sex and religion”, Tayeng said.
The meeting also decided to adopt the Mere (script) properly to help the budding writers for use.
ANYA suspends ‘CS, DGP transfer’ demand
ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has decided to suspend its “CS and DGP transfer” demand following the “justifications” given by the political secretary to CM, Bamang Tago with whom the ANYA members led by their president Bamang Taji had a talk at the CM’s office here on April 6 last.
ANYA said the CM’s political secretary has clarified that the demand for CS’ transfer at the moment was unjustified as the incumbent had undergone a major surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi, adding that it has, therefore, on humanitarian ground, resolved to suspend its demand for his immediate transfer.
On DGP’s case, Tago reportedly stated that the officer alone can not be blamed for the law and order problems, and added that the State’s law and order will improve soon with the arrival of additional central paramilitary forces as sanctioned by Union Home Minister recently and the ongoing police recruitment process gets over. Pleased with the clarification, ANYA also suspended the DGP transfer demand.
