ITANAGAR, Mar 20: Arunachal Pradesh would soon have its Skill Development Council, Employment Development Council and the Regional Centre for Information Technology at Itanagar.
This was announced by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today in a public function at Dollungmukh after laying foundation stones for various developmental projects for the area. He also informed that New Administrative Reform Policy was in the offing with e-governance as it’s the essence for better governance, apparently towards achieving his govt’s goal of generating one lakh employment over the next five year term.
On the educational front, Tuki added that one private university each at Ziro and Namsai are in the pipeline under the public-private-partnership mode, while a State university would be set up at Pasighat.
Earlier, Tuki inaugurated a NHPC project hospital at Kolaptukar and laid the foundation stones for the Boori Boot Multipurpose Cultural Hall at Dollungmukh, RCC bridge over Dollung at Paro and upgradation of Dollungmukh CO headquarters to EAC headquarters.
Addressing the mammoth gathering, Tuki called upon them to be partners in development of the State. He said, the NHPC Lower Subansiri Hydro Electric Project needs support from all and it should be allowed to come up so that the State could earn yearly revenue of Rs 240 crore from it.
Lamenting that three months had passed without any construction activity of the project due to agitations in neighbouring Assam, Tuki said, the people of Assam should support the project as it would also benefit them. “I don’t understand why these organizations are hell bent in stopping its construction. If the dam comes up, it would be beneficial not only for the State, but for the entire nation”, he said.
The Assam Accord had also called for a project on Brahmaputra but now how the opposition did arose, he queried. Tuki categorically said that since its start, the project had benefited a large number of people from Assam from amongst the 7000 employees engaged in the project.
Responding to a public memorandum, Tuki assured to look into the demands and taking them up in a phased manner. He announced the upgradation of the present Dollungmukh CO headquarters to a SDO HQs with a subsequent CD block, corpus fund of Rs 2 crore for VKV Dollungmukh, besides providing Rs 1 lakh for the fire victims of Mar 18.
Minister PWD and Finance Chowna Mein, in his address, while describing school as ‘a man making factory’ exhorted the gathering to take advantage of the opportunity that NHPC has bestowed them by assuring of establishing a VKV in the area. He stressed for change in mindset and sense of belongingness among every individual for better development. Earlier, Mein laid the foundation stone for the VKV Dollungmukh, Ter-Rijo Rite PWD Sub-division and road from Kolaptukar to Paro.
Nyishi Elite Society (NES) president Bengia Tolum, lauding NHPC for providing developmental activities in Dollungmukh area, stated that the Corporation would continue in its endeavour in working for the upliftment of the area and fulfill the demands of local public under Corporate Social Responsibility. Further, he urged the state govt to talk it out with Assam counterpart and Central govt to continue the construction work of Lower Subansiri HEP adding that if accomplished it would be of national interest. �
Parliamentary Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Nido Pavitra speaking on the occasion called for fulfilling the developmental needs of the area and the various grievances submitted to the CM.
Earlier, ZPM Tamen-Dollungmukh Anchal Block, Nido Torh submitted a memorandum to the CM demanding release of Rs 2crore corpus fund for VKV to be constructed at Dollungmukh, immediate shifting of the firing range of IAF from Dollungmukh, establishment of police station with inner line check post at Dollungmukh, establishment of IRBn headquarters at Dollungmukh, sanction of Rs 5 crore for infrastructure development of Govt Sec School, Dollungmukh and for establishment of CBSE centre, infrastructure development of EAC with CD Block at Dollungmukh, immediate declaration of industrial estate at Dollungmukh, proposal for creation of separate Talle-Wildlife Sanctuary Division at Dollungmukh, construction of road from Dollungmukh to Ziro, Rs 2 crore for infrastructural development of Govt Middle School at Yattap, road from Radum to ADC headquarters Raga via Hoji village under RIDF (2012-13), Rs 3 crore infrastructural development of Govt Hr Sec School, Boa-Simla, Rs 6 crore for road from Makako to Boa village under RIDF, creation of police station at Boa-Simla, Rs 10 crore for infrastructural development under Tamen township, Rs 15 crore for augmentation of water supply at Dollungmukh under NLCPR, Rs 15 crore for augmentation of water supply at Tamen township and creation of Middle Subansiri district comprising of Raga sub-division and Dollungmukh circle.
Minister Health and Family Welfare, Atum Welly, Parliamentary Secretary Land Management, Padi Richo, Parliamentary Secretary Health & Family Welfare Nido Pavitra, Principal Resident Commissioner Avinash Kumar Mishra, Lower Subansiri DC Nila Mohanan, SP P N Khrimey, NHPC Subansiri HEP Executive Director A K Chabra and General Manager Om Prakash were also present in the function.
Later, the CM and other dignitaries made a site inspection of the 2000 MW Lower Subansiri HEP and interacted with the engineers and other staff.
